EIA Wins Award for Protecting Ozone Layer
London: The Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA), an international campaigning organisation, has won the 2006 Stratospheric Ozone Protection Award. This is for its efforts to protect the Earth’s ozone layer by investigating and exposing the smuggling in ozone-depleting chemicals.

Ask your supermarket to stop selling food that destroys the ozone layer. Supermarkets can protect human health and global environment by ensuring that the produce they sell is not grown with methyl bromide, a chemical that eats away the Earth’s protective ozone layer. Increases in ultraviolet radiation due to a thinning ozone layer may cause skin cancer, cataracts, harm the immune system and upset the fragile balance of entire ecosystems.

Montréal, Québec: A new report released today by the non-profit Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA) exposes massive secret stockpiles in the U.S. of methyl bromide, a powerful ozone layer destroying chemical.
