Mission Statement

  • To protect the world's remaining forests and their wildlife from commercial interests and to secure strict environmental regulation of timber companies.
  • To ensure the rapid negotiation of a Global Forests Convention that will strictly regulate timber companies and protect forests.
  • To document and expose corrupt and illegal activities by timber and plantation companies. To halt illegal logging and timber smuggling.
  • To ensure that international investments and demands for timber, paper and other products do not harm forests in any part of the world.
  • To expose links between logging and the demands of the wildlife trade.
  • To expose the plight of Indonesia's forests and wildlife especially orangutans as a result of logging and plantation companies
  • To work at every level to achieve positive change for the world's forests. From advocacy at the United Nations and the World Bank through to the European Commission and national Governments and liasing with grassroots environmental groups across the world.
