WILDLIFE PROTECTION SOCIETY OF INDIA

Summary: The WILDLIFE PROTECTION SOCIETY OF INDIA (WPSI), which was launched in 1994, has brought focus to many conservation issues. In particular, WPSI provides hands-on support, information and training to enforcement authorities to combat poaching and the escalating illegal wildlife trade. The Society has established a network of informers throughout India and a comprehensive database on wildlife crime. WPSI also supports legal action on important conservation issues and is involved in other critical issues such as human-animal conflicts involving tigers, leopards and elephants. Along with its conservation programmes and research projects, WPSI is in the forefront of the wildlife protection movement in India.
