EIA is a small organisation achieving great things with very limited resources. We commit as much of our money as possible to our investigative and campaigning work but like everyone we have overheads to cover too. If you’ve never heard of us before it’s because we don’t spend money on advertising, expensive offices or huge fundraising teams - just on challenging the threats to our natural world.
It can cost between £10,000 and £20,000 to run a full investigation. This covers our travel and research costs as well as specialist equipment and setting up fake companies and identities where required. Then we must turn the evidence we gather into hard hitting campaign information, targeted at the people who can make a difference.
For every £1 you give to EIA we spend:
79p on investigating and campaigning for environmental protection
10p on overheads and running costs
11p on services to our members and fundraising
EIA Trust vs. EIA Ltd
EIA consists of two legal entities: EIA Charitable Trust and EIA Limited. Essentially they work as one organisation sharing the same vision, purpose and mission, with staff working together.
It is important to have these two entities to access all possible funding opportunities for our work. Although both organisations have a broad income base, there are some sources of income only one or the other can collect.
What does this mean to you?
All membership fees, including all Direct Debits and most Standing Orders, are put towards EIA Ltd. It is not possible for EIA to claim Gift Aid on this support, but it provides vital funding for parts of EIA’s work that would otherwise not be possible.
All other donations are eligible for Gift Aid if the donor has completed and returned a declaration form.
